Annoyed about moving from the city to the suburbs, 10-year-old Chihiro finds herself stuck in the back seat of her parents' car on the way to their new home. When her father takes a shortcut through a dense forest, a strange, mystical wind pulls the family into a mournful town--an ethereal place balancing somewhere between reality and fantasy, the natural and the supernatural. After her parents undergo a mysterious transformation, Chihiro must fend for herself as she encounters strange spirits, curious creatures, and a grumpy sorceress who seeks to prevent her from returning to the human world.
